Abstract |
The notion of identity lies at the core of many Vertigo comics produced during the 1990s and 2000s; this presentation suggests a specific entry into this vast field of inquiry through an examination of the mask motif. Masks are frequently featured in The Sandman and The Invisibles, where they dramatize the narrative's engagement with issues of self, body, and individual power.
