Abstract |
This author looks at the reflection of black superhero masculinity, Blaxploitation and the Black Power movement in the 1970s comic books in the U.S. Among the comic book superheroes analyzed by the author are Luke Cage, Black Lightning and the Black Panther. The concept of phallocentric patriarchy is the core ideology of the Black Power movement. Incidences in various issues of comic books are presented which reflects the villainess of African American women.
