Nous nous intéresserons dans cet article à l’application de la contrainte de « plurinarration » dans les bandes dessinées de l’Oubapo, pendant graphique de l’Oulipo. Cette contrainte, qui n’a été que peu mise en œuvre dans les romans de l’Oulipo, et tout aussi rarement dans des œuvres plus courtes, a cependant été explorée par plusieurs auteurs de bande dessinée, majoritairement nord-américains. Les membres de l’Oubapo à proprement parler n’ont en effet que peu tenté des « écrits en branche » ; nous tenterons de voir en quoi les rares expérimentations de l’Ouvroir en ce domaine ne sont pas pleinement satisfaisantes.
Il s’agira également de déterminer en quoi la bande dessinée peut apporter à la littérature en matière de contrainte et de développement narratif du récit. En nous penchant principalement sur deux œuvres (« Meanwhile » et « Morlac »), ainsi que quelques exemples ponctuels, nous analyserons donc la pluri-narration en bande dessinée, en regard de contraintes littéraires similaires, pour en dégager l’originalité, le processus et l’intérêt.

In this article, I will focus on the implementation of the “pluri-narration” constraint in the comics of the Oubapo, which is the equivalent in comics of the Oulipo. This constraint has seldom been brought into play in Oulipo novels, and just as rarely in shorter works. Comics’ authors, predominantly North Americans, have however explored it. Members of the Oubapo “per se” have indeed scarcely tempted to do “branched stories”; I will try to determine how and why experimentations of the Ouvroir in this area are not totally satisfying.
I will also specify how comics can be innovative in terms of constraints and narrative development of the story, compared to standard literature. By studying two works primarily (“Meanwhile” and “Morlac”), as well as selective, less expansive examples, I will thus analyze the use of pluri-narration in comics form, by contrasting it with similar literary constraints; and in doing so, determine its originality, its functioning process, and its interest.
