Abstract |
The resurgence of true crime comics reflects a cultural longing for the past. It appears, looking back at the crime comics during the 1930s and 40s that the world was a safer place, however, this conception of history may be far from the truth. Fiction becomes the history of the future. So while comic books, which were released under J. Edgar Hoover's Bureau to enforce the law, display a safe world, these comics should be viewed as propaganda - not a depiction of better world.
