Abstract |
Kathleen Dunley offers a new look at a sequence from Seth’s Palookaville #19. This passage from the Canadian cartoonist’s Clyde Fans serial, which presents an inventory of the mother’s room, has been called “indulgent”, “annoying”, and “padding”. In her first contribution to the Comics Grid, Dunley follows Jonathan Crary’s concept of “supension of perception”, and suggests an alternative reading that highlights the rewards of looking between the lines.
