Back in 1983, somebody at the Marvel Comics offices had a good idea at last. A decision was made: the assistant editors would take charge of Marvel’s most popular titles for one month. The results were uneven, but the experiment produced some untypical stories which were innovative in formal terms. This was the case of John Byrne’s white pages for Alpha Flight #6. Here, Roberto Bartual explores how suprematist abstraction and pragmatism merged in Byrne’s work.
