Abstract
|
My goal for the site was simple over 28 years ago. Display regular issue front covers. A lot more has been added over the years. Here's a rough evolution of those additions:
- Front cover scans of regular issues with rudimentary content listings
- Complete contents of article titles in order of occurrence
- Credited writers and artists
- Complete Movie and TV satire charts
- Maintaining a price list courtesy of Overtstreet
- Presented The Don Martin Dictionary in an online form
- Rescanned and improved/enlarged front cover scans to fit bigger monitors
- Magazine back cover scans
- Annuals (The Worst from Mad, More Trash from Mad, Mad Follies)
- Mad Super Specials
- Linked reprinted article titles back to their original sources in the regular issues
- Charted the contributions of all Mad contributors
- Created an interactive version of Sergio Aragonés' Inside Mad offices poster
- Paperbacks
- All the other various Specials to the current day
- Grouped recurring article types / features into their own lists
- Mad Books
- Hosted the auctions of Tim Johnson / reprinted his original catalogs
- Reprinted Ed Norris' 1990-2002 71-issue run of his The MAD Panic fanzine
- Made an attempt to categorize and describe all Sergio Aragonés marginals (got to about 40%)
- Added page number spans to all regular issue articles, indicating article length
and which page (even number left / odd number right) an article began on
- Added Alfred E. Neumanisms to each regular issue page as they appeared above issue contents
- Gradually redesigning pages for a possible site-wide format change
And I continue to tweak things now and then to try to make this the best resource of its kind.
