Abstract |
Alex Fitch uses Richard McGuire's long-form Here and Alan Moore's From Hell to investigate how the nature of the comics medium allows it to represent the future, past, and present simultaneously. As Fitch argues, the fact that panels can act as static representations of the moments of a story allow readers to move back and forth, across different moments of a story. In other words, comics allow a form of time-travel even when this type of travel is not thematized as such.
