Abstract
Roy T Cook explores the narrative structure of "Here," the original and very influential six-page work by Richard McGuire. Cook analyzes the story through the lens of classical narratology, and the two intertwined notions of fabula and syuzhet. He suggests that the story can be understood as a first-person narration, in which a single location (the "here" that inspires the title) acts as the main, static location in which the protagonist reader jumps back and forth between the past, the present and the future.
