Abstract
Im Land der Rebellen (Au pays des rebelles) is one of the fourteen titles that the EU Bookshop provides in its ‘comic book corner’. This comic book that tells, through boxes and speech bubbles, the story of a humanitarian action after a natural disaster in a war zone, is clearly designed as a communication tool for a young audience expected to be appealed by such a medium. The intention, probably laudable, of triggering empathy or even more: commitment, has some limits though. As a matter of fact, Im Land der Rebellen presents of course some characters making the identification easier but the graphic and text edulcoration of the reality of such an intervention softens a story that ends up being an enlightening tale close to an unlikely romance.
