Abstract |
The institution—the red tape machine—does not salvage anything per say. It is thanks to the work of idiosyncratic personalities that many documents are preserved. This chapter sheds light on the contributions of Michel Deligne, a secondhand bookstore owner and publisher who once illustrated the best way to cultural preservation: sharing. It further presents the continuation of Deligne’s archival practice through the gallery-magazine La Crypte Tonique, which seeks to actively recirculate forgotten segments of comics history.
