The characters in Daniel Clowes’s Ghost World inhabit an impoverished and homogenised cultural and material landscape at a crucial point in their lives. Here Tony Venezia reads Clowes’s text via the coordinates offered by the work on space and place of Marc Augé and Michel de Certeau.
