Abstract
Batman Begins and the Comics studies the 2005 film, directed by Christopher Nolan, paying particular attention to how it draws on its comic book source material. Grossing over $200 million at the U.S. box office, Batman Begins was co-written by comic book writer David S. Goyer and was widely praised for its fidelity to the comics that inspired it. This book contains scene-by-scene annotations, including notes on scenes cut from the film, as well as an essay on previous attempts to film Batman’s origins, an essay on the film’s relationship with past Batman films, and a week-by-week study of the film’s box office performance.
