Abstract
In the earliest months of his comic strip The Boondocks, Aaron McGruder critiques the effects of the frontier mentality and future-based thinking in the African-American communities, using his child characters to shed a complicating light on often-simplified concepts such as the suburban dream, school integration, and the “color line” itself.
