Abstract |
Comic art is increasingly regarded as an integral part of a nation's popular culture and social history. This study attempts to give due credit to the traditionally uncredited artists, editors and writers who have been the principal creators of this art form. This biographical dictionary covers the period 1880 to 1990, and contains details of the professional lives of comic artists, writers and editors. It chronicles their work and the characters they created, providing the framework for a history of British comic art production.
