The authors try to construct the “popular memory” of the 1960s cult television series through focal group interviews of people who recalls watching the program as children. They combine research into the contemporary reception of the series with oral history techniques, reading recent responses as illustrating the processes by which personal and collective experiences are transformed and mythologized through memory.
