In writer Jason Aaron’s eight episode run of Thor, which ran from October 2014 through May 2015, a new, female hero proves herself worthy, picking up the enchanted hammer Mjolnir and assuming the mantle of Thor. In this remarkable storyline, the narrative establishes a diverse feminist alliance inspired by the new, female Thor, a community that triumphs over the patriarchy as embodied by Odin, achieving victory through collective social action. This chapter explores how the characters bring about change through collective action, helping even the most stubborn misogynists see another way. Further, this chapter argues that in its unabashed feminism this series makes an important contribution to dialogue around female empowerment, as it serves as an interruption in a discourse community that has historically been male dominated.
