Abstract
Captain Canuck, introduced in 1975, has become a national icon in Canada. The kind, polite, and moral Captain Canuck embodies the ideal Canadian. As a national comic book hero, Captain Canuck perpetuates essential elements of national identity, which are reinforced into the minds of the young readers.
