Abstract
David Collier’s Surviving Saskatoon is a comic-book retelling of the David Milgaard story. In this graphic narrative, Collier explores Saskatchewan’s social landscape while autobiographically ing his own experiences in this setting. This essay argues that Collier’s representation of Milgaard’s story is continuous with “new comics” literature, comic art that marks a shift from the American superhero tradition with its interest in marginal identities and autobiographical modes of telling.
