Abstract
[Abstract in English below]

The article first analyses the conditions under which the cycle of Asterix’ adventures has gained a good reception from the French public. In particular, it relates Asterix’ narrative and Vercingétorix’ myth to each other, not only on the basis of formal quotations, but also of a filiation clearly indicated in the substance of the narrative (at least from the “Arverne shield” onwards). Once this filiation has been established, a structural analysis of the two narratives shows that they are in a relation of transformation to one another. Then are analysed the factors which have permitted Asterix cartoons to gain an audience going beyond the national one by sticking to every conflictual situation opposing two figures acting on inequal scales.
