Abstract
There are many factors that thrust comics authors and other actors, such as collectors, galleries, archives, museums, and libraries into a market-driven logic. Original drawings have slowly but surely become a financial asset, and prone to the attention of investors. An appropriate and clear government policy about comics heritage is lacking in Belgium—a country that boasts to be one of the worldwide centers of (the history) of comics. Hence, its fragile comics heritage is disappearing, remaining dispersed, and locked up in the vaults of collectors; this chapter examines the kinds of problems and challenges raised by this lack of a cultural policy for comics heritage.
