Abstract |
We sequentially presented four related pictures at the same location, with various interstimulus intervals (ISIs), and subjects were required to judge whether the presented order was “logical” or not. Even when the exposure time of each picture was enough to identify it, and apparently to extract all available visual features, an ISI of more than about 130 msec (stimulus onset asynchrony of more than 280) was necessary to acquire the gist of the four pictures (i.e., to respond correctly). Implications of this result are discussed.
