[Abstracts in English and French below] Die Studie befaßt sich mit sozio-kulturellen Dimensionen eines Produktes japanischer Massenmedien, nämlich Comics für eine Frauenleserschaft, und zielt ab auf volkstümliche Konzeptionen und Darstellungen von Weiblichkeit im heutigen Japan. Die Ergebnisse weisen auf widersprüchliche Vorstellungen der Textproduzenten und der Erwartungshaltung der Leser: die japanische Frau befindet sich in einer entscheidenden und zugleich schwierigen Entwicklungsphase zwischen der Aufrechterhaltung und Umorientierung gesellschaftlicher Werte. By focussing on the socio-cultural dimensions of a mass media product, Japanese comics aimed at an adult female audience, this study stets out to present a statement on popular beliefs and images of femininity in contemporary Japan. What emerges is the paradoxical nature of these conceptualizations: the Japanese woman appears at the painful crossroads between value maintenance and value shift. En examinant les dimensions socio-culturelles d’un produit de la communication de masse, c’est-à-dire les comics consacrés à la femme japonaise, cette étude s’attache à arriver aux notions et images populaires de la femininité au Japon contemporain. Les conclusions font preuve du paradoxe qui existe dans les conceptions de leur production et de leur consummation: la femme japonaise se trouve dans une phase décisive et douleureuse où les valeurs sociales sont à maintenir ou à transformer.
