For me to recover sensuality in comics does not mean that we should deny content, neither that we should take subjective pleasure as the most important measure of artistic merit. Indeed, hedonism cannot conceive of a happiness outside itself greater than itself. Some even argue that pleasure does not expand our view on the world and on our lives and that it could even obscure the real artistic sense, because it has no way of articulating that element in works of art that goes beyond their reception at a particular time. Nevertheless, I believe we can revalidate the sensual experience of a work and acknowledge, at the same time, the relative value of such personal experiences.
