Based on general didactic and educational media theory, this article deals with necessary distinctions: centrally between comics and educational comics; associated with this, with various didactic methods and degrees of educational comics, which we explain using three examples. We also touch on current approaches to comics didactics based on competencies – and production-orientated teaching concepts. At the end of the article, we reflect on the possibilities and challenges of didacticising the medium of comics.
