Abstract
[Abstract in English below]

The Dipoula comic strip album, published by Editions Paquet (2008), represents the culmination of a formal collaboration between a French scenarist (Sti) and a Gabonese illustrator (Pahé). The namesake character Dipoula suffers the setback of being an orphan due to his albino nature. The text is an assortment of gags that Dipoula reproduces within the orphanage where his parents abandoned him. Given the album’s affirmation of both its ideological commitment (to condemn the stigmatization of albinos) and its sociological grounding, one can question the strategies adopted by the authors to create the verisimilitude necessary to gaining public favor.
The study examines the relevance for a French author to depict a Gabonese society that he may know only superficially. One might wonder about the targeted audience as well as the unexpressed motivations of the partners (scriptwriters, illustrator, and editors). More generally, is this production not the proof of an imbalanced relationship between the forces at play always becoming a detriment to the ideal of sharing and dialogue dear to Francophonie?
