Abstract
[Abstract in English below]

This article examines changes in the Japanese family in the 20th century through a comparison of manga by two women Machiko Hasegawa (Sazae-san), who was the first woman artist in Japan, and Kyoko Okazaki (Happy House and Rivers Edge), a graphic artist of the current generation. The comparative analysis of the meal scenes in their works illustrates the process of disruption of the Japanese postwar family, as part of the industrialization that pushed Japanese women out of the home into the work force.
